A common man stuck in the daily routines of life, longs for very few simple pleasures of life. He's often ridiculed for his 'timed-out' principles by the public and also his wife, finds it hard to accept injustices happening in front of his eyes. A provocation from his wife leads him to a destructive way of ensuring that justice prevails through violence. How the media sees it, how the police handle it, the public (for whom he fights for) reacts to it and how it all ends, form "Evano Oruvan"'s story.
Madhavan should be proud of his role for he's given his best performance till date, on the heels of 'AnbeSivam'. His body language, expressions, dialogue delivery .. all show only "Sridhar Vasudevan" the character and never "Maddy, the star". He's also co-produced the film as well as written dialogues which are quite good and thought-provoking in places (thanks to Seeman, his friend-director who also stars as Vetrimaran, the inspector). Madhavan's performance, especially in the climax scene deserves a special mention. Seeman and Sangeeta have done full justice to their respective roles.
Though there are no songs (which makes the movie short and suits the storyline), the BGM boosts the mood of the story. I am hearing that this is a ctrl+c of an English movie "Falling Down" starring Michael Douglas. Whatever.. the director has done a good job by giving a fresh treatment to a regular story (Anniyan-without-gimmicks to simply put it). Might not find many takers but surely its a good movie worth watching.
