"Kalloori" - Tamil movie Review

The story goes like this :

A girl brought up in posh Bengaluru but made to join a local Govt college in Madurai area of rural TamilNadu, finds tough to mingle with a set of friends who have joined there as a group straight from school. She later becomes friends with the group.. the subsequent conflicts, emotions, love, etc among them ending abruptly in a tragic way forms "Kalloori".

I liked the rustic setting the movie is based on... fresh faces who are naturals in the scenes with a little amateur display of emotions (which is acceptable).. the two guys who come as "neenga sollunga" catchphrase were seriously funny.... me and my friends were amazed by Tamanna's color.. oh man, she's gorgeous (i saw her during 'Kedi's preview show in person), though her acting has to improve here and there.

Joshua Sridhar's song in the rain and the other at Mahabs were just good as well as his BGM. The director BalajiSakthivel could have had a different unheard-of climax (it was unexpected, though) instead of something which came in the headlines a few years back and which the public wont ever forget. The 'culturals' scene could have been trimmed down and some scenes/dialogues are 'filmy' instead of being natural reactions.

Personally, it failed create an impact in me, a la-7GRainbowColony or a "Sethu" impact. Overall, a pakka decent movie which has no big stars, no dabba dance, no double-meaning dialogues, no gory violence (if u take the climax as an exception)... it takes guts to be a Shankar to produce one (as he's known for all those stuff). "Kalloori" is miles ahead of loads-of-crap that come along masquerading as "tamil cinema"...!!
